Welcome to another exciting edition of the Geekly! I’ve got lots and lots of great stuff for you today, so get ready to be WOWed by geekiness!
Before I dive into the tons of video game stuff I have, I’ll mention the other awesomeness first. Did you hear about the giant Lego X-Wing in Times Square? You should! You also need to check out this beautiful collection of then and now photos of the various Disney parks. Speaking of amazing buildings, this church on stilts will blow your mind.
Shopping for geeks at the holidays is hard, luckily we’re here to help! As nerds ourselves we know that when there’s something in stores that we want, we tend to just buy it then and there. So gauging what we could want under the tree is like trying to find oil just by throwing your shovel in the dirt.
We’re here to give you a bit of a roadmap, highlighting items that might’ve fallen just off the radar of the person on your shopping list. In part 2 one of our 2012 Holiday Geek Gift Guide we’re taking a look at the Music and Television centric gifts that would be welcome under any geek’s tree this holiday season. Enjoy!
It’s about time we expanded The Machine, no? We’re taking our awesome quotient up a level or fifty bazillion this week by adding WarpZoned.com writer Nicole Kline‘s voice to the cast you’ll be hearing on the regular. If you’ve been paying attention you’ll notice that she contributed a review of Miskatonic School For Girls to our site last month, the girl knows her shit. We love her, we know you’re gonna love her so let’s get on with it!
We’re trying out a new segment this week, ditching Geek Spew and replacing it with something we’re calling Geek Academy where we are gonna throw down some knowledge on things you might not be familiar with. I’m kicking it off this time with a lesson on something called The Loudness War. Let us know what you think!
