When this podcast hits episode 88, you’re gonna see some serious shit.
Sorry, had to. I guess this podcast does produce some serious shit, if by serious you mean only two of us showed up. Real life seemed to hit us on all fronts, leaving me (Dan) and Adam to recap PAX East 2013 as well as chat up about Tabletop Day, Doctor Who and Luigi’s Mansion. Plus some other assorted nonsense. We had fun making it, hope you do to listening.

Another Friday, another Perpetual Geek Machine podcast!
Regular listeners of the show should remember that not very long ago I (Dan) gave Adam a far amount of shit for watching Doctor Who. Well, I’ve watched 7 seasons of the show in roughly 4 weeks, so it’s safe to say my opinion has changed. I come clean here with Adam and you listeners, and make my case for why it’s an awesome show. You might also call this “eating crow.”
Hey man, I’m never above admitting when I’m wrong. I was wrong about Doctor Who and am full blown Whovian now.
Outside of that Kevin continues his tumble down the homebrew hole, and Rich and I warp through space in SpaceTeam.

Welcome to another exciting edition of the Geekly! I somehow managed to survive Thanksgiving and all of its crazy sales without buying a single thing. I’m not sure how I did it, other than sheer willpower! And there was so much I was tempted by, for sure.
But in the meantime, there was so much super cool stuff that I saw! I’ll start it off with the IFC Center in New York City’s awesome Studio Ghibli retrospective. From now until December 20, you can see all of your favorite Ghibli films, including some of the more obscure ones, like Ocean Waves, Only Yesterday, and one of my personal favorites, Pom Poko. I’m dying to see Howl’s Moving Castle and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind on the big screen. Personally, I’m super excited about this because I missed it when they had it last year, and I’m grateful to see them bringing it back! Field trip, anyone?
We gathered the South Jersey Local #1 Crew together again at Casa de Alexander for another all in-person show. This time we kept things to a more reasonable 90 or so minutes, we’re not trying to take up all of your free time, just most of it.
It’s a mostly What’cha Been Doing episode but we have a fun 5 Hit Combo to cap things off.

After writing for us for the past year or so we’ve finally folded Adam into the rotation. This was a fun show to do. It’s always great to add a new voice and all four of us were in the same room, which always makes a big difference to the energy and flow of conversation.

[dropcap]A[/dropcap] note from future Adam… I started writing this article several weeks ago before the onslaught of “Doctor Who’s new season is almost here!” articles started hitting the web. Sometimes timing works out since this article folds in nicely to BBC’s #newtowho campaign on twitter, even if it’s a bit more long form than they intended. Now, back to my original timeline…
Lately I’ve been trying to fill a gaping hole in my geek/nerd background. I have never really watched Doctor Who. I didn’t have a reason for it… it just kinda happened. A while ago I do remember seeing the “Eric Roberts as The Master” made for TV movie. Maybe that kinda tainted the whole universe for me.
Anywho, I digress… I fired up the Netflix app on my Tivo and jumped in. I had been blissfully ignorant about specifics of the Doctor Who universe so I got to start out on the ground floor. All I knew was he is something called a Time Lord and he travels in time having adventures. That, and there is something that shouts EXTERMINATE in a robotic sounding voice. I’m sure that won’t end up being important, right?
Yeah. It happened. “Real Life” swept us up in its vicious, unrelenting grasp two weeks ago and we missed our regular schedule. Until we can figure out a way to make tons and tons of money off of this while blabbing about geeky stuff to kabillions of loyal listeners missing a show here and there is bound to happen.
Regardless, we’re sorry for letting you down but we’re back this week with another stellar episode of the Perpetual Geek Machine podcast!

Well, I gotta say listeners this show seemed on the precipice of being lost to the digital ether there during the editing process. One of us ended up with a corrupted file after outputting, and while we’re not naming names (cough, Dan) luckily a re-export cleared up the wacky problems.
cue sigh of relief.
Turns out THE MACHINE WILL NOT BE STOPPED.

I gotta tell ya listeners, I fucking love doing this show. While I love and adore videogames and could talk about them how HOURS upon hours I do love to get my nerd on in all aspects of my life… Hell, we all do. In this show alone we talk Pixar, Comics, Harry Potter, video games, Futurama and lots more. It’s all over the nerd map, just the way we like it!
