Welcome to another edition of the Geekly! Unless you live under a rock, you know that the last week has mostly been about two things: Hurricane Sandy, and the election! Both took the country by storm, one literally, and the other figuratively. The Jersey Shore and New York City are busy rebuilding, and Obama is getting ready to take on another four years. It has been a very busy week!
What does that mean for the Geekly? Well, there hasn’t been much to round up that wasn’t related to one of those two things! Sadly, Halloween didn’t get a chance to take center stage, but at least we have another video of parents telling kids they ate their candy again, courtesy of Jimmy Kimmel. The ending is so adorable, I cried a little!
There are a lot of cool new items over at Thinkgeek, including Lego Ninjago Samurai Mech sets, Assassin’s Creed III Flags, Star Trek Spock Oven Mitts (OMG!), and these super awesome Game of Thrones Stark Direwolf Bookends. Oh yeah, and if it wasn’t $275, I’d already have this Dead Space Isaac Clarke Statue. Hell yeah.
Possibly the coolest new item I found on the Internet was this Sega Dreamcast bag from Insert Coin Clothing. They’ve also got a Mega Drive bag if that’s the Sega machine you prefer. And if you want more stuff to go with your Assassin’s Creed flag that you just purchased from Thinkgeek, Insert Coin also has a bathrobe and gloves inspired by the game as well!
One final note of geekery: I was at a game jam this weekend hanging out with some friends, and one of them pulled out the DS version of Ninokuni, available only in Japanese (though not only in Japan, as you can see at that Play Asia link). I’d been tempted to get it for ages, but seeing it in person – especially the gorgeous spellbook – made me want to crack open my Japanese books again just so I could play it. It’s that beautiful!
