While we’re rolling out our Gift Guides all this week we found time to record a new show. Rich joins us again after making some major upgrade pre-orders to his personal life and has plenty to go over since the last time he sat in with us. Ryan has a bone to pick with some celebrities who are getting a little too loose proclaiming themselves as “nerds” and I’m there too to keep everyone in line. It’s safe to say we get lost in a post-Thanksgiving haze of gaming, movies, and dual-boot wizardry in this latest episode of our podcast.

Shopping for geeks at the holidays is hard, luckily we’re here to help! As nerds ourselves we know that when there’s something in stores that we want, we tend to just buy it then and there. So gauging what we could want under the tree is like trying to find oil just by throwing your shovel in the dirt.

So, the day is here. It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights. The geeks here at the Machine are gonna see the new Muppets movie tonight. It’s a most sensational inspirational celebrational Muppetational Day!
The Muppets have held a special place in my heart for nearly my entire life. Born in 1977, I basically grew up with them. We watched episodes of The Muppet Show as a family (in prime time no less!) and I watched the movies hundreds of times. Hearing Rainbow Connection or It’s Not Easy Bein’ Green immediately takes me back to being a kid again, like when Anton Ego eats the Ratatouille at the end of Ratatouille. In the picture above I’m about 4, and the best gift I got for Christmas that year was a “Wocka Wocka” horn my grandfather made for me. It was a mic stand with a bike horn attached but I could stand behind it, tell a terrible Fozzie Joke, and honk the horn. It was glorious.
