  • The Bard’s characters battle & backstab in Kill Shakespeare: A Sea of Troubles (comic)

I’m not sure if this crazy variety in comic literature is a recent trend or if it’s been here awhile and I’m just now noticing. Either way, it’s awesome.

I’m reading stories about cibopathic FDA agents that can get psychic impressions from things they eat in “Chew”, to tales about schizophrenics unlocking past lives to fight alongside in “Cowboy Ninja Viking.” Comics about mystical sidearms in the old west in “The 6th Gun” and now a world run by William Shakespeare and populated by his characters created with his magic quill in “Kill Shakespeare.” So yea, I’m pretty excited to be a comic reader these days.

So what’s Kill Shakespeare about? It’s about a world where all the characters and plots from Shakespeare’s plays all live together and are ruled over by The Bard himself, referred to by his creations as Shakespeare the Wizard. Of course most of these character’s don’t get along with each other or their lot in life and the tried and true villains including King Richard and Lady Macbeth seek to usurp Shakespeare and take his magic quill for their own to rule the land.

    Horrible Bosses (movie review)

You’d be hard-pressed to find a person who has never had a frustrating day at work, and wished that they could murder their boss with impunity. Most of us just deal with whatever annoying tasks, or unnecessary attitudes brought about the bad mood and go on with our work day. This is not true for the characters in “Horrible Bosses.” Three friends hatch a plan for each one to murder another’s shithead boss, to make their lives easier and, more importantly, to get away with it.

    Web Focus: Readability

The Internet is a big place. In this series we take a look at different sites floating out there that we think are worth your time. If you have any sites that you think we should let people know about, leave a comment or drop us an email, podcast@perpetualgeekmachine.net.

I don’t think most of us realize how much time we spend reading things these days. Because we’re not reading a proper book or magazine when perusing that 3,000 word video game review on that blog we visit every day we don’t think about it. I’m probably reading more now on a daily basis than I ever have. One of the detriments to this is the barrage of ads, poor design, tiny fonts and page-view-padding broken up articles. In comes Readability, helping to make it all better. Let’s take a look.  (more…)

Ep #00032: Perpetual Geek Machine Podcast

After a few weeks of rotating lineups in the podcast we’re back to the 3 of us you know and (let’s hope) love. After I (Dan) took a one show hiatus and long Disney vacation I must say I felt a bit rusty and while I think I could’ve had a better show I’m being told no one else will feel that way.

Luckily it’s another show that’s all over the map and we talk about our new version of the site, earthquakes, crazy Japanese puzzle games, The Hitchhiker’s Guide, fixing Xboxs, some movies, some games, some theme park stuff and more!

Here’s the link to give Perpetual Geek Machine: Show #00032 a listen!

Here’s the breakdown on where to find/follow us online!

“Please stand clear of the doors…Por favor mantengase alejado de las puertas.” We got show notes incoming!

    Monopoly Deal (card game review)

Amongst the board gaming elite, there are few words that draw more ire and disgust than “Monopoly.”  The first real board game most of us learn as a kid, it’s simple dice rolling, property-buying, four hour sessions of free market economy really seem to rub some people the wrong way.  In fact, this quintessential American classic scores no higher than a 4.5 average on BoardGameGeek.  Yeesh.

It would seems serious gamers have a real hate on for Rich Uncle Pennybags and his thimble full of fun.  Despite all of this, I’m here to sell you on a little card game called Monopoly Deal.
