  • This roller coaster is a killer! (actually, literally)

As a self-professed rollercoaster fan I make it my business to ride as many as I can. As a nerd I do my due diligence and spend a fair amount of time learning and reading about them. I never seem to have any passive hobbies, things I just enjoy. I always tend to turn them into passions. Anyway, back to the story.

A few days ago I see a link for something called the “Euthanasia Coaster” which naturally sparked my interest. Turns out that while most people who won’t ride roller coasters don’t because they think they might die on it, this one is actually built to kill you.

Naturally, it’s not real, it’s just an art and conversation piece. The thought process goes that if you were going to die, and could choose the means of your death why not go out screaming and laughing as opposed to sitting in a chair or lying in bed. The loops and g-forces deprive your brain of oxygen and you simply pass out and die.

Seems a helluva lot more fun than fading away in a hospital bed to me.

You can read more about the project and see a scale model here.
