  • D&D Encounters – “March of the Phantom Brigade” Session 3 recap

If you missed last weeks wrap up, you can check it out here.

At the Table - This session started off with a pep talk from Brother Splintershield. He had gotten wind that some people in the caravan were worried about the frequency of “trouble” and how it seemed some people were keeping things close to the vest. He hoped to convey that each and every one of the people on this journey are important to the new town of Inverness and that they all faced the dangers there together.

OMG YOU GUYS! THERE’S A BLACK DYNAMITE ANIMATED SERIES AND GRAPHIC NOVEL COMING SOON!!!

I have NO idea how this got past both Dan and I. I’m actually rather ashamed of both of us being that we’re both huge fans of the brilliantly hysterical Black Dynamite.

Ladies and gentlemen, pimps and hoes, I am greatly honored to tell you that there will soon be drugs in the community be a Black Dynamite animated series on Adult Swim AND a one-off graphic novel called Black Dynamite: Slave Island. Time to grab some Anaconda Malt Liquor and Roscoe’s ’cause it’s gonna be a sexy 2011.

Hit the jump you jive turkey! (for more details on both) (more…)

Our Infallible, Sure-Thing 2011 Oscar Predictions

Around these parts we love movies. The problem is none of us get out to theater all that often any more. Back in the first 4-5 years of when my wife and I were dating it seemed like all we did every weekend was go see every movie that came out. It didn’t matter who was in it or what it was about, we had all the free time in the world (and more disposable income) so we just watched everything. Now if we want to go out and see something it’s a special treat that practically has to be scheduled, and we don’t even have kids yet. I know my fellow PGMers are pretty much in the same boat and you’d think all this would stop us from weighing in with our opinions on who is absolutely, positively going to win the most self-congratulating awards in the most closed-off, clueless mess of an “industry” in the world.

    And you’d be totally wrong.

To compile our list of winners I went to the offices of Price Waterhouse and stole the list sent out an email to my wife Linda, Dan and Amanda and Ryan and Joanne asking them all for their individual predictions. It’s a proven scientific fact that when the six of us put our minds together to predict winners for entertainment award shows that we always end up with a list of perfect predictions. See our history of amazingly perfect scores here: [this space intentionally left blank and un-hyperlinked].

Get your office pool scorecard ready and hit the jump to see who IS going to win a golden statue on Sunday night! (more…)

Ep #00020: Perpetual Geek Machine Podcast

Little secret here dear listeners, Skype is a cruel mistress and stymied our attempts at recording this at the proper time. Real life got in the way of all of us making it to the rescheduled time so this week you get a two shot of Ryan and Kevin speaking on all things geek. The upshot is that I (Dan) get to enjoy this show as a listener!

Alright people, let’s get to it!

Here’s the link to give Perpetual Geek Machine: Show #00020 a listen!

Here’s the breakdown on where to find/follow us online!

There’s nothing like the smell of sweet show notes in the morning! (more…)

Anyone Can Play Guitar…Or Change The Music Industry

    The King Of Limbs

On Monday of last week (the 14th) Radiohead announced on their website that they were issuing their 8th full length album called The King Of Limbs and, oh by the way, you can get it this Saturday (the 19th). The immediate nature of the announcement wasn’t far off from what they did for their previous album, In Rainbows, wherein they announced the album and released it ten days later. As we know now the band moved up the release day for Limbs by one day and set the album free on Friday the 18th.

Radiohead are a band that have the financial security and fanbase that grants them the freedom to do whatever they please with their music, putting them in a somewhat unique position. I take a look at what they’ve done and wonder why more bands of any stature haven’t embraced a different way of thinking. (more…)
