PGM Holiday Gift Guide – Geek Lifestyle!

Us geeks do our best to let our hobbies permeate our every waking moment. We carry books in our backpacks, we play games on our phones, we talk about who’d win in a fight between Darth Vader, Spider-Man and Voldemort (it’s Voldemort BTW). On other words, we’re geeks 24/7, we’re the real fucking deal.
These items allow you to put it out there that not only are you a nerd, but you’re not going to be embarrassed about it. Take it, embrace it, hell… enjoy it!
The last two years saw the release of two incredibly awesome tree ornaments, Pac-Man and Galaga mini arcade cabinets. To the day they still sit on my desk, no doubt played by my various action figures whenever I’m not in the room (though they’d certainly work hanging on a tree too).
I was hoping to add to this little game room this year but there doesn’t seem to be a cabinet ornament coming this year (sad face). But all is not lost! This Tron lightcycle is the perfect addition to a nerdy decoration setup, and it even lights up!
Lego Creator Shuttle Adventure
Honestly I don’t think I need to even write anything about it. I mean look at it. LOOK AT IT. How could you be reading this site and NOT want that thing? If you have a child you’ll have an easier time justifying buying it, but we both know you’d be getting it just as much for you as for your little one. Me? I don’t have the excuse, but I want it all the same. And being that the Space Shuttle is all but extinct this might soon be a memorial for when NASA was awesome.
Yea, it’s over a hundred bucks. But by comparison it’s cheaper than that crazy expensive Death Star model, so there’s that. That was over $300 so this one is downright affordable!
It also features 3 minifigures, realistic engines, retractable landing gear, opening cockpit with seats for 2 astronauts, ground maintenance vehicle, detachable fuel tank and booster rockets, a satellite and a whopping 1,204 pieces!
Midnight Snack Art Print
We’re adults. I know, I know… I don’t like it any more than you do, trust me. That fact doesn’t make it any less true though. So what happens when you still want to let the geek flag fly when you’re decorating but need to class it up a bit? Well, you buy some nerdy art! It’s something that says “Hey man, I dig art… but I’m still a huge dork.”
To be clear I don’t mean that as a negative, I have more than a few of things that fall into this category hanging in my living room (I also have a huge Skeletor statue next to my television, but I have a pretty awesome wife). That’s probably a story for another time…
Klingon Corkscrew
“We’re ever so glad you could join us for dinner this evening, Mr. and Mrs. Hoi Poloi. We’re not used to having company such as yourselves in our modest home but it’s certainly a nice change of pace to put on a nice dress and have a fancy dinner. Darling husband, won’t you please pass the wine and opener? I think our guests here would like some.”
“
“Sigh”
If you’re looking for something to open those bottles of wine but want to make sure everyone knows you’re a Trekkie at the same time, well this thing is for you.
Harry Potter Battling Wands
The wife and I are both big Harry Potter fans. Especially of the books, though the movies have all been totally bad. When I saw these on ThinkGeek I sent along a link to her with the subject line “DO WANT” and while she agreed that doesn’t exactly make it a done deal.
I have fun thoughts of chasing each other through the house wielding laser tag wands shooting at each other while yelling gibberish spells. Yea, I’ve got kind of an awesome life. Obviously this one is a good fit for those with kids too.
Their are different wands available based on different characters of the series, and they both light up and make noise. It’s the best way to take laser tag into the realm of high fantasy.
World of Warcraft Murloc Hoodie
I’ve saved the geekiest for last people. Wearing something like this outside of Blizzcon or PAX takes some balls. Any nerds out there up to the task?
I’m a big World of Warcraft fan. I have a statue of Murlocs on my desk at work. I have the Murloc scream set as my incoming SMS alert sound on my phone. There’s a part of me that really loves the idea of this hoodie, which you can zip up all the way to turn yourself full Murloc. It’s kinda awesome. But could I knowingly wear it out in public at any time? No, probably not.
Oh, who am I kidding… I totally could. And should, I should really buy this thing for myself. Aaaaaughibbrgubugbugrguburgle!

Dan, you had me until the WoW hoodie, but everything else I would try to find a justification to have.
