I love finding a recipe that sounds like it makes something really delicious. Just reading the list of ingredients makes your mouth water. You can already imagine the taste before you even start preparing anything. I’m getting hungry just writing this.
Sometimes a developer has a great idea for taking great features or ideas from different games to create one Frankenstein-style creation. Many times this doesn’t work but when it does…woah baby.
Uber Entertainment is a new development team formed by a bunch of seasoned vets. Their first release, the downloadable class-based, third-person shooter Monday Night Combat, borrows a little from Team Fortress 2 and a bit from Smash TV to try and create their own magical recipe for delectable gaming. It felt good to get back in the podcasting saddle after an extra week off (since we time-delayed our last show to post during vacation). Ryan sits out this week as he’s in the middle of moving and all his geekly possessions are no doubt in neatly marked cardboard boxes. But fear not, the show goes on!

We’re honestly proud of the bastard. It was great to both catch up and get his unique take on what’s he’s been spending his time on.
We talked about Robert Kirkman’s excellent comic series back in Show #00003 and now you can check out the trailer for AMC’s upcoming small screen adaptation. Between Breaking Bad, Mad Men and now Rubicon, AMC has proven they know how to make some damn good TV. Let’s hope that keeps going.
Browser games are starting to get ridiculous. I’m not talking about Battlefield Heroes, that’s a browser-based launcher that starts a substantially-sized program that’s been previously downloaded. I’m talking about games that are played completely within the browser, no downloads required.
Snail Games USA’s upcoming empire-building RTS MMO (I know, right?) Ministry of War is a hardcore PC gamer’s game that’s played entirely in the browser. In it you choose one of four factions to base your empire: China, Egypt, Persia or Rome. Your aim is to advance through “the ages” starting in the Dark Age. Constructing your city with building units, levelling heroes, missionaries and merchants along with completing various other tasks advances you as your empire grows stronger. (more…)
