  • Back to the Future – The Card Game!

Back to the Future Card GameA few months ago I took a look at a time-travelling card game from Looney Labs called Chrononauts. In it you could change historical events that would ripple down throughout the timeline and force other events to change as a result.

It’s a lot of fun and it looks like that card mechanic is set to become even more fun when in August of 2010 The Back to the Future Card Game is released. Again from Looney Labs and seemingly drawing from that same time travel mechanic. No individual cards yet, so we don’t know specifics but I want a bonus card that says “88mph” and when you play it… well, just get ready to see some serious shit.

We’ll be following this one and you can expect coverage and a review when it’s released.

So far all we have to go on is the official description below:

Now you can jump into the action of the Back to the Future movies, with this ingenious new time travel card game! Play as the descendants of Marty McFly, Biff Tannen, Doc Brown and others, as you travel back to the events depicted in the movies. Your mission is to make sure pivotal events are not changed by other time travelers before time travel itself gets un-invented. Using a unique, patented game mechanic for simulating time travel, Andrew Looney now puts you in the driver’s seat of the famous DeLorean!

Tales of Monkey Island Deluxe Edition – The Unboxening!

Man oh man, I feel like I’ve been waiting for this bad boy to ship forever and a day now. Back when Telltale Games first started releasing the Tales of Monkey Island Episodes they said they’d ship a physical copy when the season was over. It’s been a long time coming but those of us that ordered the special edition are finally getting theirs. There was never a definiteive answer from Telltale about what was holding up the shipments, but it doesn’t matter anymore. The episodic games that continue the story of my favorite video game of all time is finally in my greedy little hands and I just couldn’t help but share pictures! It’s quite an awesome boxset and includes the following:

    • Tales of Monkey Island Collector’s DVD which includes the full season game, plus bonus extras like commentaries, wallpapers, etc.
    • Slipcover case art from Monkey Island art legend Steve Purcell — if you missed out at pre-order time
    • Exclusive Voodoo card, not found in the Voodoo Card Set (available separately)
    • One of Reginald Van Winslow’s favorite maps: The Gulf of Melange printed on cotton fabric
    • Piratey Piece of Eight – metal collectible coin
    • Coaster from the notorious Club 41
    • Souvenir button from the Trial of the Century (2.25 inches diameter)

Let’s get on with the unboxing pictures!
